Collect Hermes Plus challenges - and the Post

  Hermes launches a service for collections, income and consumption of consumer goods through convenience stores in the cities mentioned my Hermes Parcel Shop.

The service enables buyers of goods simply by making it back to a corner shop in the store network packets.

In a challenge to the post office, customers can also send their packets over the network. And the fourth quarter of this year, online shoppers will be able to call a store to pick up take delivery of parcels online orders at their convenience.

The offering will compete with the Company Collect bonus, but Steve Murray, Head of Business Development says that it is not intended to compete with or poach Collect Plus customers, but complement and extend their own service.

Murray says that Hermes does not work in the stores already in the network to collect more and is in its recruitment of convenience stores to be selective network of boutique package. "We rejected 28 percent of the transactions that we considered because of the quality of shop opening times and location."

Hermes aims to urban areas, where customers are less likely to have held a place of safety or a neighbor, for delivery during working hours. Hermes parcel shops consideration as a basic high street retailers online only.

More than 500 stores already in operation in the network, and Hermes is to be in operation by 1000, the peak in October. He hopes one day between 3000 and 4000 shops.

Hermes has signed an agreement with Midcounties Co-op, which will see more than 80 co-op stores in his region to join the store network packets.

The service follows the model established in Germany in 2000, which is now a network of 14,000 branches.
