Outrageous Japanese fashion wants to go global


  Big hair. No, like, really big hair. Tanned skin. And incredibly long nails. Meet the young women of Black Diamond. You are ready to go worldwide.

In Japanese, this fashion style is called "gal" (or ギャル Gyaru). The view goes against traditional Japanese ideas of feminine beauty: pale skin and dark hair. The subculture has its roots Japanese youth fashion, when young brown hair to die in the 1990s and hit the tanning salons began.

Westerners often think that this aspect will try to copy the foreigners, but a better way to understand how the youth in the West is to be dyed green hair rebel. This is what happened here.

Also note that this method does not necessarily designed to appeal to Japanese men. Many men find incredibly embarrassing trend of Japan (except for the guys who dressed in the version of guy so). Instead, it was largely a subculture attractive women for other women, something that is evident in the most extreme iterations as "ganguro" (ガングロ), the abbreviation for "deep black" and "Yamanba" (ヤマンバ), which relates to Witch Mountain !

But around 2001, there was a "boom pale" skin in Japan and tanned girls seemed even more marginalized. Female subculture that Black Diamond is the head seems to be both a revival and a ganguro response to the trend of the decade long pale skin.

Black Diamond, but not as ganguro, since the word a bit outdated. Instead, about 100 members of the group are themselves a "unit hada Kuro," with "kuro hada" calls (黒 肌) meaning "dark-skinned" or "dark skin."

Interestingly, Black Diamond does not really use the term "circle of gal," which is what this gal groups or clubs during the last decade were called.

In the 2000s, the largest group of gal gal was a group called Tokyo "Angeleek" actually members telephone interview and apply for membership. Angeleek organizes events in dance clubs where members could make drill team style dance routines.

Angeleek seems to have run away sands, and Black Diamond is the spiritual successor, with members in Japan, Tokyo Meet-ups and regular trips to spots and shopping malls Shibuya sticker fun picture. Elements out of the way, as they say giant flowers in her hair, a revision of the 1990 trends gal.

Black Diamond, but does not seem happy not in fashion magazines like Egg gal or simply appear, appear in dance clubs in Tokyo. Via his Facebook page, the group sold gal fashion for people outside of Japan and is actively trying to recruit non-Japanese members.

This week has announced worldwide BlackDiamond its intention to distribute "an original song and video". The device itself try crowd fund production costs.

Currently on YouTube Black Diamond and Facebook pages, the device is "elections" for people to vote for their favorite singer in Black Diamond.
