The most promising new talents of seven International Design Contest anointed fashion


      International Talent Support (ITS), an annual event in Italy, perhaps organizing the biggest international competition for young fashion designers - and many Americans have never heard of him. Well, let us tell you.

The highly competitive event two days ago that happened this weekend in the small Italian port city of Trieste, won scholarships, and more importantly, exposure to higher levels of fashion. Mark Fast and Peter Pilotto, for example, the most notable recent winners of the competition. Many of the youngest finalists had landed high positions in luxury brands such as Givenchy, Margiela, Celine and more.

"I have always drawn from the finalists and their designs Lady Gaga [when I worked]," said Nicola Formichetti, Gaga's former stylist and newly appointed artistic director for diesel. "The talent [at ITS] is over and it's very exciting. More than anything, it's different and inspiring." When Formichetti bizarre sticker designs oversized Zara Gorman met ITS few years, for example, he immediately thought of Gaga. Next thing you know, sailor Gorman appeared in "Marry the Night" clip on Gaga.

Formichetti was only one of a handful of industry veterans on hand to judge the competition. Sara Maino, senior fashion editor at Vogue Italia, Ute Schumacher, vice president of trend and design at Swarovski, and Renzo Rosso, the owner of the OTB (brands such as Diesel, Viktor and Rolf, Margiela has, and more) also in the jury served.

"I love that we create an outlet for all these new ideas, without contamination," Rosso said. "That is why I support his right from the beginning and there's a part of me. With creativity, you can build a brand, you can build a business."

Rosso is responsible for the renowned diesel, which offers the best designer € 25,000 all-denim look. The theme this year was "Denim Revolution" and the prize went to Xiao Li, a Chinese student at the Royal College of Art Li denim dipped in silicon to create an unusual look, but this is a beautiful oversized jacket with a denim pencil skirt paired contain.

The jury looked long and hard at the portfolio around the world in three categories: fashion, accessories, jewelry, and eventually hopes to reduce flew to Italy to attend a two-day handle.

"We examined 20 portfolios, as he ran to the top 10," Schumacher, who presented the award Elements Jewellery Swarovski Award for Lili Colley said, form the London College of Fashion. It offers € 10,000 to the winner with a six-month internship.

Last year's winner, Octavia Yang has not yet completed his internship at the headquarters of Swarovski in Austria.

"He helped me because of exposure," says Yang won the award last year. "And I have learned so much from Swarovski and the company."

The biggest award of the evening was the fashion collection of the year, the South Korean Han Chul Lee of the Royal College of Art was. It offers € 15,000, a return to the competition next year and a chance to showcase their new collection. Mr. Lee impressive collection was inspired both by Hannibal [Lecter] and Yakuza [Japanese mafia] and contain perforated mixed with slick leather pants tops. A stand-out piece was a leather jacket that had a third leg dangling from the rear.

"It was a career change for me to keep track of fashion," said the 36-year-old from Seoul. "One day I want to make fashion, moved to London and got my Master and now I'm here." Lee said he hopes South Korean fashion will become more famous and it looks to emerging designers in Seoul as Juun J. base

"There are many companies now I would like to work in London as Burberry and I have conversations with them," he said.

Lee later in the Vogue Talents Award, where the collection will be photographed and featured in both Vogue Talents, an additional section of the publication, and won on the website of Vogue Italia.

At the end of the night, won Chabluk Felix Smith, a graduate of the London fashion company, founded by the founder Imran Amed website in the last minute.

"It was too good not to get a price!" Amed told us later.

Though the price is not to come up with money, he came up with the promise of a one-year mentoring.

Not that Smith needs so much.

"I recently received an offer to work as Margiela ten minutes!" The 24-year-old, said excitedly after the show. "Changing lives, really."
